EXTROVERTED SENSING

Extroverted sensors are realistic, adaptable, practical, and matter-of-fact. They are keenly aware of the actual situation around them, and tend to make judgments based on what they can "see". They learn by experience and enjoy dealing with situations as they arise. They may become so wrapped up in the facts and the unfolding of events that they are unable to separate themselves from them and so, become subject to them. Extroverted Sensors look at the behaviors of people and at how their behaviors lead up to a particular outcome. Their moods are dictated by whether or not things are going well outside themselves, and by whether or not the state of the world is “good” or “bad”. They can’t imagine how someone could be happy or content when the world is in distress or when the people around them are not behaving in an acceptable manner. Individuals who have an extroverted sensation function are prone to wide mood swings since the external world is constantly changing. External objects are valued insofar as they excite the senses and, if they do, they are accepted into the consciousness whether acceptance is rational or not. They strive to reach the highest level of actuality. Dominant extroverted sensing is only seen in C/R and E/O (both are oppositions). The demeanor of this individual depends highly on their surroundings.

When supported by thinking (STfi; C/R), they have a good grasp of underlying principles and are aware of the logical consequence of their decisions or actions. They prefer doing to talking about it since they learn by experience. They may vacillate between the need to be driven to do and a need to pull back and analyze.

When supported by feeling (SFti; E/O), they are more people oriented. They are friendly and tactful. They notice the little details about people and tend to "size them up". They may feel pulled between socializing and gathering data.
